This is a bit of an unusual blog post after my again long hiatus, time seem to be slipping by. A couple of days ago I came across a chocolate bar and a wine brand, I have to admit I was a bit shocked and amazed at the name I saw in front of me yea the name is quite odd for a chocolate bar “chocolate Negro” wtf lol and the wine Gato Negro lol, could people be possibly running out of names to use.

Places to find free Legal BitTorrent Downloads

posted by Timothy Mugayi in June 2nd, 2008

Stumbled upload a must see list of free and legal bit torrent tracker list.

Finding a decent selection of BitTorrent downloads that are both free and legal can be a challenging proposition for many including myself. Sure it’s easy to point to BitTorrent tracker sites like Mininova or The Pirate Bay as places to find just about anything under the sun, but it’s usually copyrighted material and so downloaders face tests of both conscience as well as their ability to evade the prying eyes of copyright holders, law enforcement, ISPs, and perhaps even meddling parents. So thus arises the need for places where free AND legal BitTorrent downloads can be found. The following is a list of 7 worth mentioning and a description of what types of BitTorrent downloads each has to offer.

Strapped for cash and need a free domain name?

posted by Timothy Mugayi in May 20th, 2008
in General   Tags: free domain name

This post is for those of you looking for free domain name. I guess using the word free domain name is a bit miss leading a more appropriate word to use is a free sub domain. FreeDomain.co.nr is a service that provides ad free sub domains that means no annoying pop-up’s advertisements and annoying tool bars, You get a free sub domain with the .co.nr extension for example www.yourname.co.nr or www.yourcompany.co.nr which I have to admit looks quite good and more professional compared to something like mysite.freewebs.com or test.blogspot.com.

FreeDomain.co.nr provides free url redirection meaning you can pretty much redirect your free http://www.yourname.co.nr to for example http://mysite.blogspot.com.

If you’re looking for something free or looking to shorten your web urls then this service might be suitable for you.

You might be wondering where’s the catch no ads pretty good looking sub domain well there is one thing that freedomain.co.nr requires that’s a link back their main site.

In my opinion this service is much better than cjb.net and dot tk. Thou one of the biggest draw backs I found with this service is the imposed time restriction, if your sub domain is in active for more than 2months your account will be terminated and permanently deleted. I wouldn’t recommend using this service if you’re serious about having your own domain name.

posted by Timothy Mugayi in March 23rd, 2008
in Online Video   Tags: Online Video, oxytube

There are lots of different places out there where people can upload and download videos, making it difficult to find certain videos or at the very least, time consuming Oxytube simlifies the process by allowing you to aggregate your search results from the common video sites such as YouTube, Vimeo, MySpace, Aol Music, DailyMotion, MetaCafe, MegaVideo, Google and ClipSyndicate.

Making sense of money and economics

posted by Timothy Mugayi in March 18th, 2008
in General   Tags: Finance, financial sense, money

Today’s post is a little different from my previous file sharing and IT related. I have immersed my self in investing and finance over the couple of weeks and I have realized its very important and beneficial to understand how money works, and how economics works. With all that is going on at the moment e.g. oil prices increasing, and the us going into a recession and many falling into foreclosures. Some how all this impacts us irregardless which country you live in. or even if you blog and earn a living online. I have found listening to Financial Sense a weekly radio show has been one of my primary sources for keeping up with the constantly changing world related to investing and money. I came to here of Jim Puplava and his web site through my brother and was instantly amazed by the in-depth discussions of the world of economics, finance and politics from an investor’s point of view.

Prior to I visited numerous sites trying to make sense of what was happening in the financial world.  I have to admit its quite informative and no nonsense information that I have been exposed to.

Financial sense provides guest interviews from many different views, both supporting and not supporting Jim’s Puplava views. In the end, though, a very good summary is provided in a segment called The Big Picture. This is where it all comes together and overview of the previously discussed topics.

This is not a stock picking site or a site a site, but an extremely well thought-out overview of the global financial and political world. Another benefit is the forum where individual views and discussions take place.

Take advantage of this informative source and take not its provided for free, you owe it to yourself to at least check this site out and judge for yourself. Post your comments on what you think.

Brainstorming simplified with Twiddla

I stumbled across a snifty web applications that simplifies collaborating with your peers or with small teams despite geographical displacement.
Twiddla It lets you mark up media and live Web sites, or simply organize ideas together on a virtual whiteboard.

You have at your disposal the ability to draw over a website which makes illustrating your point visual. No sign-ups are required unless you wish to start a private discussion session.
It also tacks on live communication with text chat and free voice over ip conference calling that doesn’t require additional plug-ins or software. You can also take a snapshot the current whiteboard session and save it for achieving purposes or for later alterations.

I found the application to be simple with a clean interface and easily accessible. Thou it was not that responsive, but I can’t complain too much on that area as I run on 256mb of ram.

Twiddla’s packs a lot of features that might attract users of premium paid collaborative services who are seeking an alternative way to perform brain storming session with out dishing out big bucks.

Savvy Circle Monitors Your Wishlist for Price Drops

posted by Timothy Mugayi in March 10th, 2008
in General   Tags: saving money, shopping online

New shopping webapp Savvy Circle watches items you’re interested in buying online and emails you when they go on sale. Sign up for a free account and add items from the online stores it supports—from Amazon to Zappos to Newegg and more—to your shopping list on Savvy Circle. Then wait for email notifications when and if the item goes on sale. I’ve added a few items to my shopping list but haven’t gotten a sale notification yet, but if you’re looking for a deal on something or other it can’t hurt. Looks like Savvy Circle is only taking a limited number of sign-ups for now, so jump in while you can.
